Therapeutic Aide

Summary:
Works one on one with youth within the school, daycare or private placement. The therapeutic aide will be responsible for conducting behavior management/modification interventions, transitions and academic support. Contribute to the formulation and implementation of the Individualized Action Plan (IAP) and individualized point sheet.
Education:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university in human service field, or have at least one year of related experience and/or training.
Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
GENERAL
- When assigned a new client, coordinate an initial meeting with the Supervisor, the teacher, case manager, family, and self to develop an IAP and point sheet.
- Interact with all clients in accordance with the IAP and the therapeutic process.
- Maintain therapeutic relationships which do not allow self-disclosure of personal or social information to clients.
- Directly supervise and monitor client's behavior in the school, daycare or private placement.
- Provide transportation, accompany, and directly supervise client on outings and other transitions between different environments.
- Demonstrate initiative, creativity and flexibility in organizing and conducting in-school interventions.
- Participate in weekly supervision to discuss case progress.
- Collaborate with daycares/school systems to implement interventions that adhere to their policies and expectations.
- Maintain a high frequency of communication with the teacher(s) and parent(s).
- Maintain high quality documentation of all case work, completed in a timely manner and consistent with outlined program policies.
- Use good interpersonal communication skills to gain client cooperation and resolve client conflicts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with teachers, case managers, social workers, and guardians regarding client progress.
- Participate in IEP meetings and the Treatment Team process by offering reports on client treatment needs, goals and progress, as applicable.
ENVIRONMENT
- Adhere to safety and security guidelines.
- Assist in proper use and storage of supplies, equipment, etc.
- Maintain facility in clean, safe condition.
- Report potential hazards to supervisor.
REQUIRED MEETINGS
- Attend staff meeting as scheduled
- Meet with 360 Transitional Solutions Supervisor, as determined.
- Meet with program managers, parole/probation officers, and/or social workers for case updates (when approved by mentor supervisor).
