Crisis Support Specialist

Full-time; Salaried/Exempt; Reports to the Crisis One Program Manager

SUMMARY- The Crisis Support Specialist will provide direct therapeutic care to children, youth, and adults who are in psychiatric crisis to intervene and stabilize behaviors and prevent psychiatric hospitalization and loss of placement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide intensive 1:1 behavioral support services to clients experiencing a crisis jeopardizing their current placement
  • Initiate and facilitate de-escalation techniques and strategies to assist the client in maintaining self-control
  • Use good interpersonal communication skills to gain client cooperation and resolve conflicts
  • Interact with all clients in accordance with the individual service plan and the therapeutic process
  • Assess, evaluate and monitor the safety of the client and others at all times
  • Exercise appropriate intervention in accordance with the least restrictive alternative to protect client from harming self or others
  • Coordinate closely with other staff and community partners to ensure the appropriateness of treatment modalities and services being provided.
  • Provide 24-hour emergency response as needed.
  • Serve as clinical liaison to referral sources and parents regarding progress and needs; to include attendance of FAPT meetings and court hearings as necessary.
  • Develop and implement plans for discharge including mobilization of resources for ongoing maintenance, rehabilitation & recovery.
  • Develop assessments, individualized service plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Additional reports/documentation as necessary.
  • Maintain high quality documentation of all case work, completed in a timely manner and consistent with outlined program policies and licensure requirements.
  • Administer first aid to client in response to minor medical problems
  • Lead/participate in staff training and/or seminar presentations as requested.
  • Notify Supervisor of any significant client medical complaint(s), unusual events, accidents, medical problems, property damage or maintenance concern, etc
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) A minimum of a Bachelor or Master's in Social Work or related human services field and at least one year clinical experience providing direct services to children, adolescents and/or adults with a mental health diagnosis.

Current Driver's License with favorable driving record required (no more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years, no more than 1 at-fault accident in the last 3 years, no DUIs in the last 5 years).
