Summary:                   

A support staff of multiple therapeutic foster care teams composed of a family consultant, child in care, the birth family, the therapeutic foster parents, the program director/supervisor, the custodial agency case worker, and others in involved in the effort to promote the child's normal development and successful adjustment to family and community living.                                 

The Case Aide's primary tasks are to assist the Family Consultant on maintenance of the client record and support the efforts of team members on common goals and strategies.

                              

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Assists in maintenance of all client and relevant teaching parent records to include, but not limited to:  intake paperwork; critical incident reports; progress notes; treatment plans; legal paperwork; case management notes; documents as indicated in policies and procedures and/or table of contents; or other documents required by regulatory standards.

Prepares and maintains case records

Prepares and organizes all client records upon discharge.

Provides real-time assistance in retrieving documents required by regulating bodies

Develops knowledge of behavioral analysis and planning using the ABC framework as a fundamental conceptual model; thinks in ABC terms in assessing problems, completing responses and assisting with goals and strategies.

Provides training and consultation for the Teaching Parents, child/youth, and their parents; all casework services to these individuals are centralized and coordinated through the FC.

Provides direct emotional support and technical assistance to the family(ies) involved in the child's care and treatment through home visits and phone contact; assists in providing the family(ies) with support through emotionally challenging periods of extreme and troubling behavior and models appropriate responses and teaching strategies. 

Guides parents through a proactive process of assessment, goal-setting and ABC planning to address the child's current emotional/behavioral problems and to promote the child's normal development.

Supports the Teaching Parents in their role as primary change agency with children placed in their care.

Assists with implementation of initial, comprehensive and quarterly treatment plans

Arranges for respite care for Teaching Parents-planned and unplanned-as needed.

Connects child/family with needed services

Assists with school registration/enrollment/advocacy/special services planning

Documents any case and client/family/foster family information in database system and assist in maintaining current data points.

Attends mandatory staff meetings as well as all scheduled in-service and other required training.

Provides periodic feedback regarding the child's needs for psychosocial, nutritional, medical, and educational services.

Assists in monitoring progress in each case and ensuring services are delivered.

Is knowledge of applicable children/youth's plan of care.

Follows Intercept policies carried out on a daily basis, including all requirements stipulated by licensure agencies and funding entities.

Performs any other duty which may be requested but not included herein.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Experience in the field of foster care or experience in working with behavioral programs, counseling, and/or skills training is highly preferred.

High school diploma; OR A baccalaureate degree in any field; OR A doctorate or master's degree in any field

A degree in social work from a college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or a field related to social work such as sociology, psychology, special education, or counseling, with a student placement in casework services to children and families or experience in providing casework services to children and families is preferred.
