Intercept Youth Services is now hiring a full time Therapeutic Day Treatment School Counselor (Salaried).  TDT Counselors work inside the school system and maintain a caseload of 4-6 clients.  Our counselors work school hours year long and are given partial cell-phone reimbursement.  They are responsible for addressing the day to day concerns, issues and needs of their school/work site and the clients therein. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in the human services field (QMHP C Trainee).  QMHP C applicants with one year clinical experience working with children or adolescents preferred.

 

  • Current Driver's License with favorable driving record required (no more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years, no more than 1 at-fault accident in the last 3 years, no DUIs in the last 3 years)

Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

CLIENT SUPPORT

  • Provide case management and service coordination to clients, their families, and support teams (including their schools and workplaces) as needed.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling to all clients on caseload.
  • Provide crisis intervention to clients as needed.
  • Coordinate closely with other staff and community partners to ensure the appropriateness of treatment modalities and services being provided.
  • Serve as clinical liaison to referral sources and parents regarding progress and needs; to include attendance of FAPT meetings and court hearings as necessary.

DOCUMENTATION

  • Maintain high quality documentation of all case work, completed in a timely manner, and consistent with outlined program policies and licensure requirements.
  • Create and develop individualized service plans, quarterly service plans, and monthly progress report reviews and report to community funding sources.
  • Exercise sound judgment in proposing changes to treatment plans.
  • Write and submit daily progress notes in accordance with program policies.
  • Provide monthly progress reports as needed.
  • Develop and implement plans for discharge.

TRAINING AND SUPERVISION

  • Provide ongoing communication to the Clinical Program Coordinator on the status of client caseload (including working with the Clinical Program Coordinator on client consultation as needed).
  • Lead/participate in staff training and/or seminar presentations as requested.
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings.
  • Participate in clinical team meetings as applicable.
  • Participate in regular supervision with the Clinical Program Coordinator.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Verification of QMHP-C status, current driver's license, safe automobile, and current and sufficient auto insurance. Tuberculosis test/screening.

  • Phone-related tasks require the ability to hear and speak.
  • Working with clients includes having the abilities to safely and effectively perform both physical and non-physical de-escalation in accordance with requirements set forth in Crisis Wave Training (a synopsis of said requirements can be provided at applicants' request).
  • Client direct care regularly requires the ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, taste or smell, and may require to lifting or moving up to 10 pounds.
  • Transporting clients and participating in client activities requires operating a motor vehicle for up to 1-2 hours at a time, eyesight in compliance with Department of Motor Vehicle requirements for operating a motor vehicle.
  • Copying, filing, and other record keeping duties require the ability to stand, sit, and move from one position to another easily.
  • Computer work requires the ability to input data from a keyboard quickly and efficiently (use of fingers/ability to feel).
  • Close computer work requires clear vision as well as ability to adjust focus when returning to other tasks.
