Activities Counselor Full-time, Hourly/Nonexempt Reports to the Staff Supervisor

Summary The Activities Counselor plans and implements recreation services for residents that develop leisure, socialization, motor and task skills.

Responsibilities:

Document a recreational assessment on each resident within 30 days of admissions, and every month thereafter

Provides program and residents with recreational resources in the community by establishing a recreational resource manual

Encourage resident input in activity planning and post a monthly calendar of recreation activities

Acts as a liaison between local recreation resources and community home

Participate in treatment team meetings, reporting on resident needs, individual goals, and goal progress

Accompany and directly supervise residents on outings, activities, and appointments in the community

Work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a human services field plus one year of related work experience, or

Associate's degree in a human services field plus three years of related work experience, or

a high school diploma or GED plus four years of related work experience, or

equivalent combination of education and experience

Current Virginia Driver's License
